How to Master The Squat

Squat is the most fundamental movement a human body can do. Hundreds of articles and books speak of how modern civilization has taken away our ability to squat properly. As a fundamental movement everyone should have a mastery of it. While most athletes use it as conditioning tools, some disciplines such as power lifting and Olympic lifting compete in this technique.

The most common mistakes in doing the squat involve:

  • poor knee traction
  • lifting of the heels
  • over-arching the spine
  • leaning forward...
...just to name a few.

Adductors Flexibility and Strength Training

Exercises such as straddle and butterfly are common adductors stretching techniques. These exercise are helpful yoga postures. However they target many muscles at the same time. Zaichik stretching approach is different. Each muscle is targeted individually. At the same time using action vs action approach, stretch reflex is avoided. Avoiding the stretch reflex allows to eliminate the pain of stretching. Moreover Zaichik Stretching allows the practitioner to pinpoint the problem. In other words, if only one muscle is tight out of the group, all the athlete has to do, is focus on that muscle and release it. Many people found that Zaichik Stretching to do the trick for them. Allowing them to break through the wall, where traditional stretches have stopped working. ​

Hamstrings Intermediate Flexibility and Strength Training

This means the movement of the hip in purely sagital plane. No actions in coronal or transverse plane take place. Each of the hip flexors is adressed separately together with other muscle groups, which can restrict hip extension.

Not all hip flexors and their synergists need to be targeted the same way for every possible technique or sport. Some skills require rotation, horizontal abduction or horizontal adduction together with extension. This program targets all of them as a general hip flexors routine.

Internal Hip Rotation for Hockey Goalkeeping Flexibility

A very common practice for Hockey Goalkeeper is to do forced internal rotation hip stretches, such as the hurdles stretch leaning back. Many of which can be very dangerous and don't have a direct transfer into hockey skills.

There is a much faster and safer approach. This approach targets each of the external hip rotators individually. Addressed one by one, and using Zaichik Stretches, the results come very quickly. The pain of stretch reflex is avoided. At the same time, our program strengthens the internal rotators in key positions, so that you can achieve an excellent flexibility with minimum effort.
